The great highland bagpipe is native to Scotland and has been made famous through its usage in the British military and in pipe bands throughout the world. The earliest references to bagpipes in Scotland are in a military setting. Instead of being played directly by mouth as many other aerophones, the great highland bagpipe gets its sound by squeezing a bag full of air onto reeds closed inside wooden “stocks”,
